MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

Key Responsibilities
Design & Product Development
Work closely with the R&D team to analyze engineering problems and develop effective mechanical design solutions.
Develop design prototypes and generate detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
Generate 3D models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and implement GD&T to ensure proper fit, function, and assembly of components.
Support design verification and validation activities, including prototype evaluation and functional testing.
Manufacturing & Supplier Collaboration
Liaise with suppliers to determine the best manufacturing methods and develop final Bill of Materials (BOM).
Collaborate with vendors and production facilities to ensure designs align with manufacturing requirements.
Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to optimize production efficiency.
Review supplier designs and provide technical feedback on manufacturability, materials, and tolerances.
Coordinate with international vendors, suppliers, and production facilities to support product development and implementation.
Engineering Documentation & Quality
Create assembly and servicing manuals and maintain design documentation.
Carry out design and documentation processes in compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
Develop and maintain Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) documentation.
Participate in engineering change management processes (ECR/ECO/Change Requests).
Maintain accurate design revisions and documentation in accordance with company QMS standards.
Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving
Conduct root cause analysis for manufacturing or field issues and implement corrective design improvements.
Facilitate product development by designing test fixtures to support manufacturing and testing activities.
Apply Design for Excellence (DfX) principles including Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), Design for Cost (DFC), and Design for Reliability (DFR).
Ensure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering)
Experience: Minimum 4 years of experience in mechanical design
Technical Skills
CAD Tools: SolidWorks, AutoCAD
Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis
Design for Excellence (DfX) principles
Prototype development and fabrication methods including 3D printing, vacuum casting, CNC machining, sheet metal, and plastics
Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as injection molding, sheet metal stamping, and CNC machining
Familiarity with ISO 13485 and risk management (ISO 14971) is an advantage
Strong knowledge of engineering materials and material selection for performance, manufacturability, cost, and environmental requirements
