Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)
Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)
Department: Quality Assurance / Engineering
Experience: 4–7 Years
Employment Type: Full-time
Role Overview
We are looking for a strong SDET to own quality assurance across our platform end-to-end. You will be responsible for building and maintaining robust automated test frameworks, ensuring critical user flows are covered, and producing test reports that give real confidence to the team. You will work across a web platform, client-facing REST APIs, and an Electron-based desktop application.
This role requires someone proactive, thorough, and ownership-driven — someone who identifies gaps before they become production issues.
Key Responsibilities
Own test coverage across web, API, and Electron desktop application
Design and maintain automated test suites using Playwright following best practices — maintainable, readable, and reliable
Identify and document critical user flows; ensure no significant flow is left untested
Perform thorough manual testing where automation is not sufficient, with structured and repeatable test cases
Build and maintain API test coverage for REST endpoints including authentication flows (OAuth, JWT)
Produce clear, meaningful test reports that communicate what was tested, what passed, what failed, and what confidence level the release carries
Integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines
Audit existing test coverage, identify gaps, and systematically close them
Be mindful of user data handling and access control during testing — flag any concerns around PII or permission boundaries proactively
Required Skills & Qualifications
4–7 years of QA/SDET experience with a strong mix of manual and automation
Proven expertise in Playwright — including test architecture, maintainability, and adherence to best practices
Solid manual testing skills — structured thinking, edge case identification, critical flow coverage
Experience testing REST APIs — tools like Postman, REST Assured, or similar; understanding of OAuth and JWT flows
Experience with Electron app testing is a plus
Comfortable working in a CI/CD environment (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar)
Strong test reporting skills — ability to communicate test status clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience in a healthcare or regulated product environment is a plus
Self-driven, proactive, and accountable — someone who raises flags early rather than waiting
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with HIPAA or general data privacy considerations in a product context
Experience setting up or improving QA processes from the ground up
